Puppy School is a set of six puppy training classes lasting one hour. The comprehensive curriculum has been carefully designed to take you through all the training basics giving you a great foundation for life with your new puppy, or for any further training classes or dog sport you choose to do later.

Is my puppy suitable?

Starting training as early as possible is the best way to set the stage for success. We welcome any pup up to 20 weeks old at the start of the course. All puppies should have their first round of vaccinations. Any questions? Get in touch via kaitlin@encoredogs.com

Frequently Asked Questions


Yes! Puppy School is great for the whole family. Please note, it is advised that another adult is present for children under 10 as class may be difficult to handle a puppy and kids on your own! Due to the nature of the space, it is best to keep it to 2-3 humans per puppy if you can.
Puppies must be 20 weeks or under on the first day of the course. Any puppy with their first round of vaccinations is welcome to attend. Ask your vet if you are unsure whether your young puppy can join.
That’s ok! If you have to miss one or two classes your tutor will send you training notes and the online Puppy Club has a full rundown of what is covered each week so you won’t feel behind. If you have to miss more that 3 classes it is recommended you choose a different course date.
For Encore Dogs classes, full refunds can be given up to 5 working days before the start of the first class. There are no refunds once the class has started. If you or your puppy is ill and you have to miss more than 3 classes, alternative arrangements can be discussed with your tutor. If you are attending at Teddington, these classes are in association with Lady & the Hound and will fall under their refund policy.
Puppy School is taught using positive reinforcement methods, also known as force-free or science-based training. There is a zero tolerance policy for any tools or training that involves intimidation, force or punishment.
Classes located at Urban Mutts Hotels are in in Level -1 Car Park A in Westfield. There is a charge for parking so please keep this in mind. Many buses and tubes operate nearby. Classes at Avondale Park Primary have on-street parking which is free after 6pm. Teddington classes have free parking on surrounding roads.
