About
Hello! My name is Kaitlin and I am the face behind Encore Dogs! I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and a registered Animal Training Instructor (ATI) with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC). I am also a tutor for Puppy School UK and a volunteer trainer with DogAID.
Having grown up with a reactive dog, I know firsthand how challenging it can be just to leave the house and how crucial early, preventative training really is.
I began my training journey as a Puppy School UK tutor, helping dog parents catch problem behaviours early and build a strong foundation for success.
Alongside running group classes and 1:1 training for pet dogs, I now also focus on training assistance dogs. This means the techniques I use are not only force-free and effective, they’re proven to meet the high standards required to pass an assistance dog test. If they work for those dogs, they’ll work for yours too!

What Our Client's Say
Ros Satar2025-04-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have just completed Adolescent Academy straight after Puppy School, both taught by Kaitlin. The changes in my puppy have been remarkable - all down to simple training tips (a lot of practice and a LOT of turkey treats!). There is always some element of Kaitlin’s training I can try and incorporate into my puppy’s walks and at home and I would thoroughly recommend any local puppy owners to enrol with her courses. Sonia Labatut2025-02-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had huge recall issue with our rescue husky so called Kaitlin for help. I did not expect our dog to improve so well and so quickly. Kaitlin is very helpful, gentle and has all the tricks and advises one might need. Hope loved her and is now a more confident and happy dog. Kaitlin positive reinforcement is exactly what we were looking for. If she can teach recall to a husky, she can literally do anything! I could not recommend her enough! We will be forever grateful! D Greig2024-10-17Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Such a positive experience with Kaitlin at Encore Dogs. I particularly love her calm, professional and enthusiastic approach to training. She treats the dogs as individuals and has given us many useful strategies. I highly recommend Kaitlin. Martine Paton2024-02-20Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kaitlin is a great dog trainer. She was easy to communicate with, always arrived on time and our dog loved her. More importantly, her instructions are easy to follow and we seem to be making good progress with the training regime. I would highly recommend her. Wakana Naganuma2023-11-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really kind, helpful and understanding trainer. Has helped to manage some severe separation anxiety. I have struggled to get people to truly understand my problems but it was like I was finally talking to someone who got what I was saying and gave me tips that made sense and have worked. Thank you, from Mollie Oscar tai and wakana Dan Renjel2023-08-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kaitlin’s training has been really useful for our Labrador puppy. We needed some assistance with recall, loose lead walking, and socialising with other dogs, and she provided us with helpful, doable techniques in all of these areas, and we’ve seen great improvement with him! She listened to all of our concerns and gave great advice, and she had an amazing ability to get our puppy to listen to her and focus on her. We would definitely recommend her. Terri Bernard2023-08-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kaitlin is amazing. She had our nervous dog literally eating out of her hands within moments of meeting her. We started out with a 1:1 consultation wherein Kaitlin assessed my dog’s needs. Training walks were recommended to get my dog to where she needs to be. Even after the first walk I could see a noticeable difference in the way she responded to her environment. Katlin is knowledgeable, patient, professional and I highly recommend her and Encore Dogs! Sinead Watts2023-07-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kaitlin recently looked after our Hungarian Vizsla, Ruby for a day. She was extremely professional and very communicative during the booking process and arranged a pre-meet to run through everything. Ruby was instantly at ease with Kaitlin and they built a rapport very quickly. Kaitlin’s knowledge and experience of working with dogs was clearly evident with the confidence with which she handled an excited Vizsla :-). On the day Kaitlin sent regular updates and I was completely at ease knowing Ruby was in good hands. I highly recommend Kaitlin and have already booked training for Ruby to work through some specific areas.Load more

Struggling to get calm lead walking from your puppy? 🐾
A lot of puppy clients are able to perfect lead walking skills at home, but it all falls apart when they step outside.
My #1 tip when teaching calm lead walking to a puppy is to let them get their `sillies` out first! 🤪
What I mean by this is:
1. choose small length of pavement (In this video, I chose the space between 2 trees)
2. go up and down that length 2-4 times and let your puppy explore by sniffing, chasing leaves, etc. 🍂
3. Then, practise your loose lead walking skills for 2-4 lengths in the same spot.
Notice a difference? We are now setting our puppies up for success and not having too high expectations of them too quickly!
If you mastered this and want to move to the next level, DM me and we can work on it together! 🤩

Hoopers Taster with @happy_buddies_ !
Benny and I had a blast doing a beginners hoopers session with Amanda at Happy Buddies!
It’s always so useful to be on the other side in a group class and just get to learn and play 😊
It reminded me how important it is to just do something fun with your dog! Whether that’s playing at home or going to a dog sports class.
Did you know there are loads of classes like hoopers that can accommodate any dog at any age? And you don’t have to compete, it can be just for fun!

It’s National Dog Day! 🐶
Who are you celebrating today?
I always think of my lovely Taffy the Toller because it is her birthday today as well!
It’s fun to look back on all the fun activities we did together, before I knew a thing about dog training!
What activities fill your dog’s cup? Maybe let them enjoy doing that activity today 😊

Loose Lead Walking! 🦮🐕🦺
It looks simple, but it’s one of the hardest dog training skills to master. Why? Because it requires consistency, patience, and working against the distractions of the outside world!
Some top tips for lead walking:
🐾Reward often - what gets rewarded gets repeated!
🐾Start in low-distraction areas - like the kitchen or the living room!
🐾Keep training short and sweet - little and often is ideal
If you have a puppy or adolescent dog, be patient and understand they are taking in so much when they are out on a walk.
If you need support with lead walking, join Adolescent Academy September 6th where we deep-dive into this essential skill.
Or book a 1:1 training program!
Just DM me for info 😊

A simple chin rest can unlock a new world for you and your dog!
If you know me, then you know I am a consent handling fanatic. Ever since I saw how simple it can be, it made me realise how much more we can do for our dogs.
If vet visits or just simply putting on your dog’s harness are stressful experiences, start by teaching the chin rest.
Then, work with me either in-person or online and we can unlock all the handling possibilities!
I may have a consent handling class coming soon in Richmond…🤔DM me your email and I’ll pop you on the wait list!
