About
Hello! My name is Kaitlin and I am the face behind Encore Dogs! I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and a registered Animal Training Instructor (ATI) with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC). I am also a tutor for Puppy School UK and a volunteer trainer with DogAID.
Having grown up with a reactive dog, I know firsthand how challenging it can be just to leave the house and how crucial early, preventative training really is.
I began my training journey as a Puppy School UK tutor, helping dog parents catch problem behaviours early and build a strong foundation for success.
Alongside running group classes and 1:1 training for pet dogs, I now also focus on training assistance dogs. This means the techniques I use are not only force-free and effective, theyāre proven to meet the high standards required to pass an assistance dog test. If they work for those dogs, theyāll work for yours too!

What Our Client's Say
Posted on Ros SatarTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have just completed Adolescent Academy straight after Puppy School, both taught by Kaitlin. The changes in my puppy have been remarkable - all down to simple training tips (a lot of practice and a LOT of turkey treats!). There is always some element of Kaitlinās training I can try and incorporate into my puppyās walks and at home and I would thoroughly recommend any local puppy owners to enrol with her courses.Posted on Sonia LabatutTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had huge recall issue with our rescue husky so called Kaitlin for help. I did not expect our dog to improve so well and so quickly. Kaitlin is very helpful, gentle and has all the tricks and advises one might need. Hope loved her and is now a more confident and happy dog. Kaitlin positive reinforcement is exactly what we were looking for. If she can teach recall to a husky, she can literally do anything! I could not recommend her enough! We will be forever grateful!Posted on D GreigTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Such a positive experience with Kaitlin at Encore Dogs. I particularly love her calm, professional and enthusiastic approach to training. She treats the dogs as individuals and has given us many useful strategies. I highly recommend Kaitlin.Posted on Martine PatonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kaitlin is a great dog trainer. She was easy to communicate with, always arrived on time and our dog loved her. More importantly, her instructions are easy to follow and we seem to be making good progress with the training regime. I would highly recommend her.Posted on Wakana NaganumaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really kind, helpful and understanding trainer. Has helped to manage some severe separation anxiety. I have struggled to get people to truly understand my problems but it was like I was finally talking to someone who got what I was saying and gave me tips that made sense and have worked. Thank you, from Mollie Oscar tai and wakanaPosted on Dan RenjelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kaitlinās training has been really useful for our Labrador puppy.Ā Ā We needed some assistance with recall, loose lead walking, and socialising with other dogs, and she provided us with helpful, doable techniques in all of these areas, and weāve seen great improvement with him!Ā Ā She listened to all of our concerns and gave great advice, and she had an amazing ability to get our puppy to listen to her and focus on her.Ā Ā We would definitely recommend her.Posted on Terri BernardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kaitlin is amazing. She had our nervous dog literally eating out of her hands within moments of meeting her. We started out with a 1:1 consultation wherein Kaitlin assessed my dogās needs. Training walks were recommended to get my dog to where she needs to be. Even after the first walk I could see a noticeable difference in the way she responded to her environment. Katlin is knowledgeable, patient, professional and I highly recommend her and Encore Dogs!Posted on Sinead WattsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kaitlin recently looked after our Hungarian Vizsla, Ruby for a day. She was extremely professional and very communicative during the booking process and arranged a pre-meet to run through everything. Ruby was instantly at ease with Kaitlin and they built a rapport very quickly. Kaitlinās knowledge and experience of working with dogs was clearly evident with the confidence with which she handled an excited Vizsla :-). On the day Kaitlin sent regular updates and I was completely at ease knowing Ruby was in good hands. I highly recommend Kaitlin and have already booked training for Ruby to work through some specific areas.Load more

So proud of the progress these two have made so far!
Ushuaia is on her journey to becoming an assistance dog, and I think many of the skills she is learning are extremely useful for pet dogs too!
Skills like:
š¾ waiting at the door/general door manners
š¾ calm lead walking
š¾ calm greetings (only when cued)
š¾ duration on positions like sit, down and middle
Even if youāre not training an assistance dog, think about skills that could be useful every day that your dog may not know already.

Shopping for dog gifts? Try these ideas instead! š
š Dogs donāt always need fancy toys, theyāll love a good cardboard box, toilet roll, plastic bottle, etc. Pop some treats in them to make them extra exciting! Just be sure theyāre not one to ingest things!
š A sniffy walk where the nose knows which way to go! Walks can often be dictated by us, so let your dog decide this time! Itās fun to see where they decide to go.
š Instead of taking your dog out to the busy pub, try a cosy night in! Youāll both appreciate the snuggly cuddles.

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating today! š¦
Taffy was always the kitchen supervisor and sous chef. There are a lot more crumbs left on the ground without her around!
I hope you have a lovely, relaxing day no matter what you get up to! Iām headed out on a walkies and then will park myself in front of the Macyās Parade š

Do dogs always move away from you when you try to pet them? It may be because they donāt want you to touch their head! š
āļø
Always let the dog come to you. They donāt owe you a greeting! They will come if they feel comfortable and want the attention.
People always point out how happy their dog seems when I greet them, itās because I respect their space and avoid the over-head petting! And if a dog doesnāt come to me, I donāt take it personally š
